New & Reclaimed Hardwood Floor

This spring our team was busy installing a new hardwood floor in the dining room area at Adolfs Event Center & Tavern. The floor is beautiful and is wonderful for dining and dancing. We kept the original bar room floor and used the hardwood from the original ski shop apartment at the base of Winter Park Resort for the front room at our venue. The hardwood for the front room was donated to us by the daughters of George Engel, Janet Engel and Wendy Christiansen. George Engel and his wife Joyce owned the original ski shop and ski school at Winter Park Resort.   When they torn down the building that housed the ski shop and George and Joyce’s apartment George insisted that the hardwood be saved. The hardwood floor has been reincarnated and we are dedicating the space to George and Joyce’s memory. There is a ski run at Winter Park Resort named for George called Engeldive. Ironically, George proposed to Joyce at Adolfs in 1950. The front room at Adolfs has a beautiful view the slopes of Winter Park Resort, vintage skis and an old T-Bar hanging on the walls, historical photos of Adolf Luthy and a cozy gas fireplace. The front room can be rented for private dinner parties for up to 16 people.
